MU Online Season 18 – Illusion Knight, Artifacts & Ignis Volcano
Season 18 (2022–23) added the Illusion Knight — a swordsman who fights with a phantom blade in his off hand — plus the brand-new Artifact equipment system, two maps (Ignis Volcano, Bloody Tarkan), the Tempest Muun, the 6th Mastery Earring, the 5th Guardian Ur, the Brilliant 8th weapons, the Apocalypse 9th armor and a Combat Power renewal for four classes. Rebuilt page-by-page from the original patch notes.
The Illusion Knight
![]() Illusion Knight: Jacquard | ![]() The phantom blade in his left hand |
|---|
Story: born as a fragment of Kundun, Jacquard outclassed his peers with the sword effortlessly — yet as a descendant of the Magic Gladiator line who could wield neither magic nor a magic sword, he was never accepted, and hid his lineage for years. Then, blocking an incoming blade in a sparring match, a phantom of his sword appeared in his empty left hand. He trained the illusion relentlessly, learned to phantomise his weapon and even himself, won Kundun's trust and became famous across MU — until a mission at Lost Tower left him fighting Lemuria's horde alone, abandoned. Wounded and betrayed, he cut his way out, defeated Balrog, and walked out of Lost Tower to carve his own path as an Illusion Knight, bent on revenge against Kundun.

The Illusion Knight's Skills
Five exclusive skills, all built around phantom sword energy:
| Orb | Skill | Requirement | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Illusion Blade (buff) | Level 25 | Copies his right-hand sword into a phantom blade in his left hand, greatly raising his attack power. Removed by unequipping the weapon or right-clicking the buff icon. | |
| Charge Slash | AGI 80 | Dashes at the enemy and releases powerful sword energy in a fan-shaped area. Within 4 tiles he fires without dashing; beyond 4 tiles he charges in. | |
| Wind Glaive | AGI 650 | Sends a tornado of blade energy forward through enemies. No cooldown. | |
| Illusion Avatar | AGI 900 | Summons a phantom of himself that charges and attacks nearby enemies. Unsummons if he strays too far; it doesn't attack players in PvP and can't be used in Chaos Castle. | |
| Blade Storm | AGI 1150 · Wind Glaive Mastery 10P | Whips a storm of razor phantom blades around him, hitting many enemies at once. No cooldown. |
All five come as skill orbs bought in Lorencia — from Barmaid Liamon on Speed and Blue servers, or Pasi on the Red server (his low-level gear comes from Blacksmith Hans).

Artifacts – the New Equipment System
![]() |
Artifacts are a new gear type with their own dedicated slots, shaped like puzzle pieces of joined hexagons. The number of hexagons sets the type — 1 hexagon is Type 1, up to Type 7. Each artifact rolls one random option from its type's pool, and the value grows as you enhance it.

| Enhancing | Up to +15 at the Noria Chaos Goblin with an Artifact Enhancement Stone + zen. Failure never destroys the artifact — it just drops one level. |
| Equipping | Drag into a matching slot. You cannot equip two of the same type. |
| Full Set | Fill every slot with no gaps: All Stats +100. |
| Disassembly | Any artifact breaks down into 1 Artifact Enhancement Stone. |
Ignis Volcano
![]() |
Lore: the volcano above Vulcanus was once the nest of a red dragon called Ignis, worshipped by a temple and its people. When the Vulcanus arena was built beneath it, its evil influence turned the people against the dragon and they formed a party to slay it. Learning of the betrayal, the dragon fell into grief and rage, sickened, and destroyed itself rather than be hunted. With its death the volcano erupted and burned everything. It has since cooled — and is now ruled by magma-covered gladiators and beasts that climbed up from Vulcanus.

It drops Excellent Apocalypse armor and Brilliant Chaos-combine talisman pieces. Its elite zone has five attribute wings — Fire (171,40), Water (30,135), Earth (105,37), Wind (47,223), Dark (214,196) — with elite versions at level 650 that apply a 100% debuff on hit.
Bloody Tarkan
![]() |
Lore: deep inside Tarkan — home to the failed products of the Kanturu bio-experiments — a region of blood-red sand was found. Scholars could not explain why ochre sand had turned red, guessing only that "some magic seems cast on it." The failed experiments there have grown far more ferocious, so the heroes of MU were asked to clear them out.

It drops Excellent Apocalypse armor and Excellent Socket Necklaces, and has its own five-wing elite zone — Fire (29,48), Water (234,221), Earth (86,109), Wind (30,217), Dark (228,27).
Tempest Muun
![]() |
Premium Muun updates ended and the Tempest Muun took over. Its base option is either Skill Attack Power or Attack / Wizardry / Curse Power, scaling with your character level and the Muun's level — and it carries a big multiplier:
| Muun level | Lv1 | Lv2 | Lv3 | Lv4 | Lv5 | Evolved |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multiplier | 5× | 7× | 9× | 11× | 13× | 20× |

| ATK/Wiz/Curse (Lv 801+) | 16 | 18 | 20 | 22 | 24 | 26 |
Options normally apply Wed–Sun and last 30 days from obtaining the Muun. An evolved Tempest Muun switches to all-days application (multiplier included). Muun grades are now colour-coded in the inventory: white Normal, blue Premium, light-green Tempest, yellow Hero.
Full pet mechanics: Muun guide.
6th Mastery Earring – Bond Earring
![]() Earring of Bond (Right) — Lv 950 | ![]() Earring of Bond (Left) — Lv 900 |
|---|
The Earring of Bond is the 6th mastery earring (Wrath → Ancestor → Honor → Blood → Enchantment → Bond). Wear the matching pair for the set bonus; enhance to +15 at the Chaos Goblin.
| Earring | Req level | Base stats | Option pool |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bond (Right) | 950 | ATK/magic/curse 370–373 · elemental defense 358 | Max Mana +1000, Excellent Damage Rate +9%, Critical Damage Rate +9%, AG recovery +10, Attack Speed +7 |
| Bond (Left) | 900 | ATK/magic/curse 330–333 · elemental defense 300 | Max HP +1000, Skill Attack +27, Mastery ATK/Wiz +110, Mastery Excellent Dmg +185, Mastery Critical Dmg +185 |
Set bonus (both worn): ignore enemy defense 6%, all stats +9, Mastery Damage +80.
How to get it: upgrade a +11–15 Enchantment Earring at the Chaos Goblin with a Bond Craft Mold (Priest James, Elbeland 32/239, 25,000 Ruud) + Bless ×20, Soul ×20, Chaos ×1, Creation ×1. Success runs 100% at +15, 90% at +14, 80% at +13, 70% at +12, 60% at +11; left makes left, right makes right, and options re-roll (1–3). On failure the mold and jewels are lost and the earring drops to +0.
5th Guardian – Ur
The Ur is the 5th Guardian — an inventory-equipped mount at level 1,200, with a rare, differently-coloured variant at low chance.
| Ur's options | Values |
|---|---|
| Base | Movement Speed increase · Attack Speed +7 · Defense +290 |
| General (1–3) | Elemental Attack +241 · Elemental Defense +241 · Defense +5.0 per 20 levels · ATK/Wiz/Curse +5.0 per 20 levels |
| Elite resistance | One of five attribute types (bleed / deadly-poison resistance paired with attack, attack-speed or defense-reduction resistance) |
How to get it: upgrade-combine a +11 or higher 4th Guardian (Shining Tail) at the Lorencia Trainer (122/110) using a Seal of Ur (Priest James, Elbeland 32/239, 50,000 Ruud) + Bless ×20, Soul ×20, Chaos ×1, Creation ×1 — 100% at +15 down to 60% at +11. Success re-rolls its general and elite-resist options and can rarely yield Ur (Rare); failure resets the base Guardian to +0.
Brilliant Weapons & Apocalypse Armor

The Brilliant weapons are the 8th mastery tier — one per class (including the new Magic Book, Orb and Magic Gun), all at level 1300, sharing the Excellent line (+10% excellent-damage chance, +7 attack/magic speed, life/mana on kill, +2.8 per 20 levels, +80 attack). Made by upgrading a +11 (16-option) Manticore weapon with a Brilliant Anvil (James, 100,000 Ruud) + Bless ×30, Soul ×30, Chaos ×1, Creation ×1 — 100%, keeping type, Luck and Excellent options.

Above them, the Crimson Flame Apocalypse set is the 9th mastery armor (level 1400) — made by upgrading a +11 Brilliant armor with a Soul of Apocalypse (James, 50,000 Ruud) + the same jewels, keeping class, slot, Luck and All-Stat options. It introduced a new set option: Mastery Enhanced Skill Damage, boosting skills raised in the post-4th-class skill-enhancement tree. Standard 4-set gives mastery critical/excellent damage, ignore defense +9%, crit and excellent rate +20%, triple damage +12%, max HP and damage reduction.
Character Renewal – Combat Power
Four classes were renewed: Dark Knight, Magic Gladiator, Rage Fighter and Slayer. Instead of new skills they gained a new stat, Combat Power (%), which raises attack and skill attack power at a fixed ratio (attack-based skills only). It comes from those classes' stat points and from weapon options:
| Class | Stats granting Combat Power | Weapon |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Knight | STR | One-hand sword |
| Magic Gladiator | STR, AGI | One-hand & two-hand sword |
| Rage Fighter | AGI, VIT | Claw |
| Slayer | AGI | Short sword |
Combat Power can appear on socket, mastery, Archangel Absolute and Blessed Archangel Absolute weapons. Alongside it: Dark Knight's Blow now costs 3 AG, Magic Gladiator's Spiral Charge gives more attack power, and the Rage Fighter's master tree and Dark Side enhancement tree were buffed (2 damage counts, 2-tile range, 2 targets).
Wing Crafting Rework
All wing and cape crafting moved into the [Equipment Enhance/Craft] menu of the Noria Chaos Goblin (180,102), with a dedicated Wing (Cape) Craft screen that shows each recipe and auto-registers the materials you already hold. Every wing/cape combine now produces a random class result.
![]() The new craft menu | ![]() Wing (Cape) Craft list | ![]() Adjusting materials |
|---|
| Tier | Path |
|---|---|
| 1st Wing | Chaos weapon → 1st Wing Relic → 1st Wing/Cape |
| 2nd Wing | 1st Wing (+ Loch's Feather) → 2nd Wing Relic → 2nd Wing/Cape |
| 3rd Wing | 2nd Wing → 3rd Wing Relic → 3rd Wing/Cape — or Condor's Feather → 3rd Wing/Cape |
| 4th Wing | 3rd Wing → 4th Wing Relic → 4th Wing/Cape — or Garuda's Feather → 4th Wing/Cape |
New stackable Wing Relic items (1st–4th) were added — tradeable and storable but not droppable. Rexmilon's Crest no longer works as a 2nd-wing material and no longer drops, and the combines that created Condor's and Garuda's Feathers were removed. More detail: Wings guide.
The Season Pass
Season 18 introduced the Season Pass — a 28-day event that runs every month. You complete daily missions to earn pass EXP, level the pass up to level 20, and claim buffs and items at each level.
![]() The reward track | ![]() Daily missions |
|---|
| Pass grade | Who gets it |
|---|---|
| MU Pass | Every character that logs in — the free track |
| Gold Pass | Every character that logs in |
| Premium Pass | Gold Pass characters that use a Premium Pass Voucher — unlocks every reward on all three tracks |
| How it works | Details |
|---|---|
| Levelling | Up to level 20. Daily missions reset at 00:00 and award pass EXP; levels rise automatically as EXP fills. Pass Tickets give a fixed chunk of EXP each and can be spent in bulk with the (+/−) buttons or by typing a quantity. |
| Buff rewards | Apply immediately and last until the pass event ends — including the Tempest Muun multiplier increase (evolved Muun only). |
| Item rewards | Delivered to Gremory Case and held for 7 days. Unclaimed rewards on the same grade are collected in one go. |
| When it ends | Pass level and EXP reset and the buffs expire. Claim everything before the 28 days are up. |

Barca & Boss Battle Events
Fortress of the Imperial Guard: Barca
The most important event in Season 18 — it's the only source of Spider Artifact Pieces, so the entire Artifact system runs through it. The map was rebuilt for level 1,000+ characters with new progression and rewards.
![]() Entering through Adjutant Jerint | ![]() The 10-minute time attack |
|---|
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Entry item | Barca Entry Ticket — drops from monsters level 275+. Stacks to 255, sells for 10,000 zen; it cannot be traded, stored in the warehouse or dropped. |
| Requirements | Level 1,000+, once per day. |
| How to enter | Right-click the ticket to move to the Barca Waiting Room, then enter through the NPC Adjutant Jerint at the centre (the ticket is consumed there, with a 10-second wait). Solo only — your party stays intact but only you enter. Difficulty selection exists but currently only Level 1 (recommended 1,000) is open. |
| Map structure | You're dropped randomly into 1 of 7 maps. Six have 3 zones, one has 4; each zone has a start point, a combat area and a warp to the next. |
| How to play | Kill every monster within a 10-minute time attack to open the warp, then step through within 1 minute of it appearing. Survive to the final zone with everything cleared to earn the reward. |
| Helper | A dedicated Barca MU Helper is provided (Home key or the top button) — the normal MU Helper is disabled inside. |
| Monsters | Barca monsters are elemental — one of Fire/Water/Earth/Wind/Dark is picked at random and held for the week (resets Thursday). |
| Rewards | One random item from the pool: Spider Artifact Piece or Artifact Enhancement Stone, delivered by Gremory Case on clear and claimable within 7 days. |
| Leaving | Through Adjutant Jerint in the waiting room. In a party the leader exits to a member's location and members to the leader's; solo players exit to the Event Map Plaza. |

|---|
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Requirements | A 4th class change character, level 800+. |
| Entry cost | 10,000,000 zen + a Boss Battle Together Entry Ticket |
| Schedule | Entry 19:55–20:00; the event runs daily at 20:00 for 5 minutes. Available on all channels except Lorencia Market, Event Map Plaza and Siege. |
| How it runs | Two random bosses spawn per channel — Kundun's Phantom, Medusa, Selupan, Nix or the Dark God. Deal at least the damage threshold and kill them all. No death penalty: dying just moves you to the safe zone and you can rejoin until time runs out. |
| Base reward | Everyone with 1,000,000+ cumulative damage when the bosses die gets a Jewel of Harmony Box and a Bonus Box (via Gremory Case). |
| Bonus reward | +2 extra Bonus Boxes for finishing 1st in cumulative damage or landing the last hit on a boss. |
| Box contents | Harmony Box → 3–5 Jewels of Harmony. Bonus Box → Sign of Trial, +0 Radiant Orb (I), Elemental Runes (×1/2/3) or Enhance Elixirs of Strength / Wizardry / Defense (×3). |
Max Level & Reward Muuns
Max level rose 1,450 → 1,500 → 1,550 across the two parts. Each expansion's Season Level Reward box (Gremory Case, 30-day claim, 14-day box life) gives an exclusive Muun with ×20 base ability for 30 days:

FAQ
Where can I play Season 18?
Browse the Season 18 servers private servers listed — the Illusion Knight ships in every later version too.
Is the Illusion Knight strong?
Very — Illusion Blade nearly doubles his output, Charge Slash and Blade Storm give him fast AoE clear, and Illusion Avatar adds a second attacker. Agility is his key stat, feeding both attack and skill power.
Are Artifacts worth chasing?
Yes. They're free extra stats in slots nothing else uses, enhancement can't destroy them, and filling every slot gives All Stats +100. The only gate is farming Barca for pieces.
What's the endgame gear path?
Manticore → Brilliant weapons (8th mastery, Lv1300) and the Apocalypse armor (9th mastery, Lv1400), plus the Bond Earring, Guardian Ur and a full artifact board.
