MU Online Classes – Every Character Explained
MU Online launched with three characters and now fields 16, each with its own evolution chain, wing line and identity. Here is every class, when it joined and what it actually plays like.
All 16 MU Online Classes
Every playable character, rendered from the Season 21 client in its level-1,600 Imperial set and 5th-level wings. Click a card for the full guide: skills, stat builds, gear ladder and ancient sets.
The Classic Five
The characters MU launched with (and the two added shortly after). Every one of them has been renewed in modern seasons — they are not legacy picks.
| Class | Full evolution line | Main stat | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dark Knight | Dark Knight → Blade Knight → Blade Master → Dragon Knight | Strength | Melee bruiser. Combat Power scaling, or the Faith build that shields the whole party. |
| Dark Wizard | Dark Wizard → Soul Master → Grand Master → Soul Wizard | Energy | Highest raw magic damage in the game, lowest defense. Evil Spirit farming and Teleport mobility. |
| Elf (Fairy) | Elf → Muse Elf → High Elf → Noble Elf | Agility or Energy | Two classes in one: agility archer, or the best party support in MU. |
| Magic Gladiator | Magic Gladiator → Duel Master → Magic Knight | STR / AGI / ENE | Hybrid. Three builds — two-hand sword, dual-wield, or staff mage — each with its own charge buff. |
| Dark Lord | Dark Lord → Lord Emperor → Empire Lord | Command | Pet commander. Dark Horse and Raven, plus party buffs that make him guild-war royalty. |
Expansion Era
| Class | Added | Evolution line | Main stat | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Summoner | Season 3 | Summoner → Bloody Summoner → Dimension Master → Dimension Summoner | Energy | Curse caster with two mutually exclusive modes — Berserker or Darkness. |
| Rage Fighter | Season 6 | Rage Fighter → Fist Master → Fist Blazer | AGI + VIT | Claw brawler. The only class where Vitality feeds damage, so building tanky costs nothing. |
| Grow Lancer | Season 10 | Grow Lancer → Mirage Lancer → Shining Lancer | Strength | Lance duelist that starts further up the power curve by design. |
Modern Classes (S14–S21)
One new class per season, almost without a break. If a server does not run the matching season, these characters simply are not available on it.
| Class | Added | Evolution line | Main stat | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rune Wizard | Season 14 | Rune Wizard → Rune Spell Master → Majestic Rune Wizard | Energy | Rune-stacking caster built around detonation combos. |
| Slayer | Season 15 | Slayer → Royal Slayer → Master Slayer → Slaughterer | Agility | Dual-blade assassin scaling hard off attack speed. |
| Gun Crusher | Season 16 | Gun Crusher → Gun Breaker → Master Gun Breaker | Agility | Magic gunner — ranged burst with turret-style sustained fire. |
| White Wizard | Season 17 | Kundun Mephis → Light Master → Shine Wizard | Energy | Light magic. The Dark Wizard's opposite, with a party Reflection Barrier. |
| Mage (Lemuria) | Season 17 | Lemuria → War Mage → Arch Mage | Energy | Orb caster with Fairy-style support buffs. Shares the Bond buff with Kundun Mephis. |
| Illusion Knight | Season 18 | Illusion Knight → Mirage Knight → Illusion Master | Strength | Shadow-clone melee — mirror images fight alongside you. |
| Alchemist | Season 20 | Alchemist → Alchemic Magician → Alchemic Master → Alchemic Force → Creator | Energy | Transmutation caster with a five-step evolution chain. |
| Crusader | Season 21 | Crusader → Impact Crusader → Master Paladin → Sacred Paladin → Templar Commander | Strength | Holy warrior and the newest class in MU Online. |
Season 19 added no new class — it brought the 5th class change, 5th wings and ability cards for every existing character instead.
The Evolution Path
Every class climbs the same ladder: 1st class at creation with small wings, 2nd class via the level 150 quest and 1st wings era, 3rd class via the level 400 quest chain unlocking the master tree, then 4th class around level 800 on modern seasons with 4th wings, and Majestic beyond. Later classes (Grow Lancer onward) skip early steps by design — they start further up the curve.
Which Class Should You Pick?
First character ever: Dark Knight or Dark Wizard — cheap, forgiving and every guide on the internet assumes them. For the economy: an energy Elf; buffers never struggle for a party slot. For guild wars: Dark Lord, permanently in demand for Castle Siege. For soloing a fresh server: Magic Gladiator and Grow Lancer level fastest early. For the newest content: Crusader on Season 21, or the Kundun Mephis + Lemuria duo if you have someone to play with. Always check which season your target server runs first — many private servers stop at Season 6 and have only nine classes.

FAQ
Do all classes exist on every server?
No — class roster depends on the server's season. Season 6 servers stop at Rage Fighter; you need a Season 18 server for Illusion Knight, Season 20 for Alchemist and Season 21 for Crusader.
What is the newest class in MU Online?
The Crusader, added in Season 21. Before that: Alchemist (Season 20), Illusion Knight (Season 18), and both the White Wizard and Mage Lemuria in Season 17.
Which class is strongest?
Whatever your server's config favors — private servers rebalance constantly. Historically Blade Master and Soul Master trade the crown.
Are there unlock requirements?
Classic rules: Magic Gladiator needs a level 220 character on the account, Dark Lord level 250. Most private servers unlock everything from level 1.
Can I change class later?
No — class is permanent. Stats and master trees reset; class does not.
