MU Online Jewels Guide – All Jewels & Success Rates
Jewels are the backbone of MU Online: they upgrade your gear, add options, fuel every Chaos Machine combination — and double as the game's de facto currency. This guide covers every jewel, its exact use and success rate, the full item upgrade path from +0 to +15, and how the jewel economy works on a live server.
All Jewels at a Glance
| Jewel | What it does | Success rate | Where it drops | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jewel of Bless | Upgrades items +0 → +6 | 100% | Drops from monsters ~level 45+, Blood Castle, events | |
| Jewel of Soul | Upgrades items +6 → +9 | 50% (75% with Luck) | Drops from monsters ~level 50+, Devil Square, events | |
| Jewel of Chaos | Chaos Machine combinations: wings, +10/+11 upgrades, Fenrir and more | Varies by combination | Drops from monsters ~level 25+, Blood Castle, Chaos Castle | |
| Jewel of Life | Adds/raises the additional option (+4 to +28); refills muun and pet HP | 50% | Drops from monsters ~level 72+, Golden Monsters, events | |
| Jewel of Creation | Creates Fruit (stat points); material in high-end combinations | Varies | Drops from monsters ~level 72+, Devil Square 4+, events | |
| Jewel of Guardian | Adds +255 HP / +5% DD-style guardian option to Castle Siege gates and gear on siege servers; craft material | Varies | Land of Trials, Castle Siege rewards, events | |
| Gemstone | Raw jewel refined into Jewel of Harmony at the Refinery Tower in Kanturu | ~80% refine | Drops in Kanturu maps only | |
| Jewel of Harmony | Adds a yellow harmony option to weapons/armor (ATK, DEF, DD, mana rate and more) | ~50% apply | Refined from Gemstone; drops in Kanturu on some servers | |
| Jewel of Luck (custom) | On many private servers: adds the Luck option to an item | Server-specific | Web shops, events, boss drops (private servers only) |
Success rates shown are the classic official values — private servers frequently adjust them, so check your server's info page.
The Item Upgrade Path (+0 to +15)
| Level | Method | Rate (classic) | On failure |
|---|---|---|---|
| +1 → +6 | Jewel of Bless, one per level | 100% | — |
| +7 → +9 | Jewel of Soul, one per level | 50% (+25% with Luck) | -1 level (or reset from +8/+9) |
| +10 → +15 | Chaos Machine: item + Bless + Soul + Chaos (higher levels need more jewels) | 50% down to 25%, +Luck | Item drops to +0 (or is destroyed on some classic settings) |
The +9 → +10 jump is where gear starts getting expensive: every attempt risks the full jewel investment, so most players upgrade spare gear first and use Talisman of Luck (+10% rate) or Talisman of Chaos Assembly (item protection) where available.
The Harmony System (Gemstone → Jewel of Harmony)
Harmony is its own mini-economy from the Kanturu update.
Gemstones drop only in Kanturu maps and must be refined into
Jewels of Harmony at the Refinery Tower (~80% rate). Applying a Jewel of Harmony gives the item one random yellow option — extra damage, defense, damage decrease, mana-on-kill and more — which is then strengthened with Lower Refining Stones (levels 1–9) and Higher Refining Stones (levels 10–13), both smelted from unwanted items at the same tower. A good harmony roll (DD% on armor, DMG on weapons) is often worth more than the base item.
Jewel Economy 101
Because Zen inflates, jewels are the real currency. Bless is the unit of account — shops price items in Bless bundles (b10, b30). Typical relationships on active servers: Soul trades slightly below Bless, Chaos tracks demand for wing seasons, Life spikes when players roll options on new gear, and Creation follows Fruit demand. Practical rules: sell jewels when a new server opens (prices peak in week one), buy when a big event floods the market, and never NPC a jewel — even the cheapest trades player-to-player.
Where to Farm Jewels
| Method | What you get |
|---|---|
| Blood Castle | Bless and Soul from quest rewards and box drops — the classic jewel farm |
| Devil Square | Soul and Creation at higher square levels |
| Golden invasions | Box of Kundun (+1 to +5) drops: Bless, Soul, Life, Chaos |
| High-level hunting | All jewels drop from regular monsters at low rates — better in Elite Zones and deep maps |
| Kanturu | The only source of Gemstones for the harmony system |
| Events | Rabbits/invasion events, Moss gambling and seasonal calendars all shower jewels |

FAQ
What is the safest upgrade level?
+6 — everything up to it is 100% with Bless. From +7 the gamble starts.
Does Luck really matter?
Yes: +25% success on Soul upgrades and on Chaos Machine +10 to +15 attempts, plus 5% critical damage chance in combat.
What happens at +8/+9 failure?
On classic settings the item resets to +0 — the reason high-level upgrade services exist. Many private servers soften this to -1 level.
Can I stack jewels?
On most modern servers yes (bundles of 10/20/30 via NPC or commands); classic servers store them individually.
Which jewel should a new player farm first?
Bless — highest liquidity. Blood Castle runs at your level bracket are the most reliable early source.
