MU Online Season 14 – Rune Wizard, Soul Gear & Kubera Mine
Season 14 (2018) introduced MU's first new class in three years: the Rune Wizard, a half-elf battle-mage with her own skills, wings and rune maces. Around her came the Soul mastery weapon tier and 5th armor, two new maps (Kubera Mine, Atlans Abyss), the level cap to 1,150, the Guardian pet system and a Summoner renewal. Rebuilt from the original patch notes with the original artwork.
The Rune Wizard
![]() The Rune Wizard | ![]() In her starting garb | ![]() Casting in the field |
|---|
Story: a half-elf born to an Arka noble mage and a fairy of the Wolf Altar — a forbidden human-fairy child. When the life-erasing Lemuria Legion marched through her home of Iria on the way to Crywolf, her parents died defending it. She travels to Noria for revenge.
| Basic info | Value |
|---|---|
| Start town | Noria |
| Base stats | HP 60 / MP 60 / AG 42 / SD 103 · STR 13, AGI 18, VIT 14, ENE 40 |
| Class line | Rune Wizard → Rune Spell Master → Grand Rune Master → Majestic Rune Wizard |
| Playstyle | Energy-scaling magic attacker — casts 2+ spells at once for wide, high-damage AoE |
| Set party | Pairs with Magic Knight and Dragon Knight |
| Class quests | 1st at level 150, 2nd at 220, 3rd at 380/400, 4th at 800 (NPC Cent, Lorencia 131,147) |
The Rune Wizard's Skills
She wields part of the Dark Wizard spellbook — Energy Ball, Fireball, Poison, Meteorite, Flame, Sudden Ice, Twister, Evil Spirit, Hellfire, Blast, Inferno, Expansion of Wizardry — plus three exclusive skills:
| Skill | Element | Req | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magic Arrow | Dark | ENE 142 | Fires 3 magic arrows that explode on hit — splash damage to enemies within 2 tiles (2 hits each). Her early-game power skill |
| Plasma Ball | — | — | Concentrated energy orb |
| Lightning Storm | — | — | Wide lightning AoE |
| Burst (buff) | — | lvl 220 | Self-buff: raises skill damage at increased MP cost — 15s duration, 60s cooldown |
| Haste (buff) | — | — | Self attack-speed buff |

After the 4th class change she opens her skill enhancement tree (Ctrl+A) — two paths (general skill enhance and debuff destruction) with per-skill nodes. Magic Arrow alone gains damage-count +1, splash range/target increases, added-damage chance, and the Freeze and Blind debuffs; passive nodes add max HP, 4th stat and base defense.

Rune Maces & Armor
Her weapon is the Rune Mace, climbing the whole mastery ladder — each tier a new design:
![]() Starter Rune Mace | ![]() Bloodangel Rune Mace | ![]() Darkangel Rune Mace | ![]() Holyangel Rune Mace | ![]() Rune Mace (upper) | ![]() Soul Rune Mace |
|---|
| Rune Mace tier | Level | Stats |
|---|---|---|
| Holyangel Rune Mace | 800 | 158–164 ATK, 89% wizardry, speed 50 |
| Soul Rune Mace | 900 | 168–174 ATK, 100% wizardry, speed 50 · needs STR 283 / AGI 107 / ENE 1100 |
The Soul Rune Mace is crafted at the Noria Chaos Goblin (180/120). Its Excellent line is a fixed +10% excellent-damage chance plus up to 2 random Excellent options (+7 attack/magic speed, life/mana on kill, +2.0 attack/wizardry per 20 levels, +57 attack).
Her armor runs the same chain — the green Iria set at the start, then Bloodangel → Darkangel → Holyangel → Awakening Soul Rune sets, upgraded at the Chaos Goblin:
![]() Iria helm (starter) | ![]() Iria armor | ![]() A mastery set | ![]() Awakening Soul Rune set | ![]() Late mastery set |
|---|
The top tier is the Awakening Soul Rune Wizard set (4th mastery armor), requiring level 900:
| Piece | Helm | Armor | Pants | Gloves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Req STR | 209 | 230 | 219 | 161 |
| Req AGI | 88 | 93 | 88 | 72 |

| Defense | 227 | 236 | 232 | 222 |
Rune Wizard Wings

Wings of Destiny (숙명의 날개) — the Majestic Rune Wizard 4th wing
Her 4th wing, Wings of Destiny, is worn by the Majestic Rune Wizard and matches the other 4th wings: DMG increase 55%, damage absorb 43% at +0 (scaling with level), 100 wizardry, 140 defense, plus the 4th-wing option pool (full mana/HP restore chance, reflect chance, ignore-defense chance, exc/double-damage chance, stat bonuses) and elemental options (elemental ATK/DEF and rates). Full mechanics in the 4th level wings guide.
She received her own 1st through 4th wing line matching the other classes — the 4th wing at level 800 after her 4th class change. Full mechanics in the 4th level wings guide.
Soul Weapons & 5th Armor
The mastery ladder climbed again — Soul weapons (4th mastery weapon, level 900) for every class, upgraded from Holyangel via the Soul Anvil (Ruud shop, 100,000 Ruud):

The Grow Lancer also got her Archangel Absolute Lance this season, joining the absolute-weapon club:

|---|---|---|
![]() Mine Porter (Lv.380) | ![]() Dead Digger (Lv.400) | ![]() Dead Shoveler (Lv.400) |
Kubera Mine has element gates (Earth 236,132 / Wind 216,119 / Darkness 227,130 → 209,69) and its miners — Mine Digger, Carrier, Driller and Porter (Lv.380), plus the risen Dead Digger and Dead Shoveler (Lv.400) — drop excellent Blue Eye armor.
| Map | Lore & details |
|---|---|
| Kubera Mine | MU's first discovered mine — Kundun's followers prayed at the miners' altar and demons bred until the mine was sealed. Now reopened for its jewels and ore, heroes are asked to clear the monsters |
| Atlans (Abyss) | The sealed "Abyss" the Atlanteans built to trap Hydra during Kundun's invasion — the plan failed and Atlans fell. A new high-level ground reached from Atlans |
Atlans Abyss Monsters
![]() Abyss Bahamut (Lv.410-460) | ![]() Abyss Vepar (Lv.410) | ![]() Abyss Silver Valkyrie (Lv.435) | ![]() Abyss Lizard King (Lv.460) |
|---|
| Floor | Entry level | Monsters |
|---|---|---|

| Abyss 2F | 1,020+ | Bahamut, Silver Valkyrie |
| Abyss 3F | 1,030+ | Bahamut, Lizard King |
All Abyss monsters carry excellent-damage, critical and 4th-tree-debuff resistances, so raw ignore/crit builds fall off here. A hunting penalty applies below level 1,010. They drop excellent Blue Eye armor.
The Guardian System – Ghost Horse
![]() The Ghost Horse — the 1st Guardian |
|---|
Season 14 introduced the Guardian system and its first Guardian, the Ghost Horse (유령마). Guardians are inventory-equipped items (right-click to wear/remove, usable from level 800) that grant a normal option and an elite-resist option while worn — a defensive companion rather than a rideable mount.
| Ghost Horse | Details |
|---|---|
| Requirement | Level 800, inventory-equipped |
| Options | 1 normal option + 1 elite-resist option (values grow with enhance level) |
| Enhance | Up to +15 at the Lorencia Trainer NPC (122/110); higher levels use Elite Guardian Enhance Stones |
| Durability | Its HP drains over wear-time — at 0 HP it unequips. Restore it fully with a Bless jewel (not affected by the master-tree durability penalty) |
How to make it: gather crafting materials from Mos's Guardian Box in Elbeland (22/225), then at the Lorencia Trainer use Soul Revival to make a Dark Horse / Dark Spirit soul, and Guardian Revival with a Ghost Horse Seal + 10 Revival Fragments + Bless ×5 to craft the Ghost Horse. It can also be disassembled back into materials, enhance stones and elite-option change stones.
The Ghost Horse is the base for Season 15's 2nd Guardian, the Ice Dragon — upgrade a +11 or higher Ghost Horse to reach it. See the Season 15 guide.
Everything Else in Season 14
| Update | Details |
|---|---|
Max level 1,150 & Etramu mount ![]() | Max level raised from 1,100 to 1,150. Reaching 1,100 before the next season grants a Season Level Reward box (delivered via Gremory Case, 30-day claim / 14-day box life). Opening it and dropping it on the ground gives the Grand Wizard Etramu mount — +10 elemental defense while worn, and ×20 base ability for 30 days after acquiring it. It can be worn alongside a Premium mount. |
Guardian system ![]() | New Guardian pets that boost stats, plus the Elite Zones — higher-reward hunting areas |
| 2nd Mastery Earring | The Ancestor's Earring — see the dedicated section below |
Monster Soul Conversion ![]() | Buy a Monster Soul Converter from Priest James (Ruud shop, 5 tiers by level: 400/600/800/900/1000 — 400 to 800 Ruud). Kill the weekly-listed monsters to collect souls into it; fill the quota and convert into reward items. One converter at a time, weekly limit, resets Thursday — if it expires unfilled it's lost, but completed ones become permanent |
| Summoner renewal | Reworked into two builds — see the dedicated section below |
The 2nd Mastery Earring – Ancestor's Earring
![]() Ancestor's Earring (left) — Lv.700, pink gem | ![]() Ancestor's Earring (right) — Lv.750, blue gem |
|---|
The Ancestor's Earring is the 2nd mastery earring, following the Season 13 Anger Earring. All classes wear it, and wearing the same-season left + right pair grants a season set effect:
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| The pair | Ancestor's Earring (right) at level 750 (blue gem) and (left) at level 700 (pink gem) |
| Enhance | Up to +15 at the Chaos Goblin — requires Jewel of Harmony (Sculpture stone) items |
| Set effect | Left + right of the same season worn together = season set bonus |
| Sculpture fodder | An earring can itself be used as a Sculpture-stone combination material |
Crafting the Ancestor's Earring
Upgraded from a +11~+15 Anger Earring (1st mastery earring) at the Chaos Goblin. The left 1st earring makes the left 2nd earring, the right makes the right. On failure the Ruud-shop and jewel materials are consumed and the earring drops to +0. The upgrade re-rolls the options randomly (a 3-option earring keeps 2+ options):
| Base earring (+level) | Ruud-shop material | Jewel materials | Success |
|---|---|---|---|
| +15 Anger Earring (L or R) | Ancestor's Sculpture Frame (Ruud shop) | 20× Bless + 20× Soul + Life bundles | 100% |
| +14 Anger Earring | 90% | ||
| +13 Anger Earring | 80% | ||
| +11~+12 Anger Earring | lower |
Result: a +0 Ancestor's Earring of the matching side — then re-enhance to +15. The full accessory system and every earring tier: earrings guide.
Summoner Class Renewal

Death Scythe — the Curse Master's new AoE summon
The Summoner was split into two distinct builds you swap with a buff:
| Build | How it plays |
|---|---|
| Sorceress (wizardry) | Fast attack-speed magic damage. Berserker reworked to scale with energy + the book's curse power; the buff persists once cast (lost on death or logout), and while active her curse skills are disabled |
| Curse Master (curse power) | AoE and debuff focused. The new Darkness skill (scales with energy + stick wizardry) raises curse power and defense; activating it flips her stat-effect setup and enables the curse skills |
Both are self-buffs with a trade-off — and after casting either, she can still receive the Fairy's attack-boost buff:
| Buff | Positive effect | Drawback |
|---|---|---|
| Berserker (Sorceress) | +Wizardry, +Attack speed (stronger the higher her curse power) | −HP, −Defense |
| Darkness (Curse Master) | +Curse power, +Defense (switches stats to the curse build) | −HP |
| New skill | Details |
|---|---|
| Death Scythe | Requires Pollution Mastery 10P, Dark element, uses curse power. A wide (6-tile radius, up to 6 targets) curse AoE that summons a scythe using the Darkness buff — it appears with a burst hit and follows the Summoner, vanishing after 10 seconds of non-use |
| Weakness / Innervation (reworked) | No longer instant debuffs — they now place a magic circle at the Summoner; enemies standing on it take the debuff, and master-tree nodes add enemy elemental ATK/DEF reduction |
| Explosion / Requiem / Pollution | Moved off the Book items onto weapon skills, learnable via parchment; motion and cooldowns cut sharply and changed to normal-damage |

FAQ
Where can I play Season 14?
Browse the Season 14 private servers listed — the Rune Wizard ships in every later version too.
Is the Rune Wizard strong?
Very — multi-cast AoE with Magic Arrow and Lightning Storm makes her one of the best farmers in the game, and Burst gives huge single-target bursts. Energy is her only stat that matters.
What's the Rune Mace difference from a normal staff?
It's a one-hand mace-type wizardry weapon unique to her class, following its own Bloodangel–Soul mastery tiers.
Do I need the Guardian system?
It's a stat boost, not mandatory — but combined with Elite Zones it's a meaningful power and farming gain at endgame.
