MU Online Ability Cards Guide – Skill, Option & Elite Cards
Ability Cards are the endgame card system introduced with the Season 19 Ability Enhancement Tree (5th skill tree). Each character equips cards from a class-specific Ability Card Book: Skill cards unlock enhanced versions of your core skills, Option cards stack raw stats, and Elite cards add chance-based effects like Triple Damage. Combined with Lv. 5 wings and earrings, cards are where late-game character power comes from on Season 19+ servers.
The Three Card Types
| Card type | What it does | Slots | |
|---|---|---|---|
| [Skill] Ability Card | Unlocks an enhanced sub-skill of your class skill (wider area, more attack speed or splash damage) plus one random HP/MP/AG option | Skill slot | |
| [Option] Ability Card | Flat stat options (ATK, skillpower, DEF, elemental stats) — five Types, each fitting only slots of its color and type | Colored option slots 1–5 | |
| [Elite] Ability Card | Chance-based premium options: Triple Damage, Ignore Defense, Excellent/Critical chance, full HP/MP recovery | Elite slot per color |
All cards upgrade to a maximum of level 5. Colors (Blue / Green / Purple) matter: a card only fits slots of its own color, so building your board means collecting the right color-type combinations.
[Skill] Ability Cards by Class
Each class crafts its own Skill cards — an enhanced version of a signature skill with one of three effect themes: of Fire (bigger area of effect), of Gale (attack speed) or of Fury (splash damage). Examples from the official set:
| Class | Skill card | Enhanced effect |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Wizard | Meteor Storm of Gale | Increased attack speed |
| Dark Knight | Sword Blow of Fire / Strike of Destruction of Gale | Bigger AoE / attack speed |
| Fairy Elf | Raining Arrow of Fire / Holy Bolt of Gale | Bigger AoE / attack speed |
| Magic Gladiator | Chaos Blade of Fire / Havok Spear of Fury | Bigger AoE / splash damage |
| Dark Lord | Wind Soul of Fire | Bigger AoE |
| Summoner | Fire Beast of Fire / Death Scythe of Fury | Bigger AoE / splash damage |
| Rage Fighter | Dark Scythe of Fire / Spirit Hook of Fire | Bigger AoE |
| Grow Lancer | Oversting of Fire / Wild Breche of Gale | Bigger AoE / attack speed |
| Rune Mage | Lightning Storm of Gale | Increased attack speed |
| Slayer | Pierce Attack of Fire | Bigger AoE |
| Gun Crusher | Bursting Flare of Gale | Increased attack speed |
| White Wizard | Sphere Storm of Fire | Bigger AoE |
| Mage | Ultimate Force of Fire | Bigger AoE |
| Illusion Knight | Blade Storm of Fire | Bigger AoE |
Skill card names vary slightly between servers (e.g. of Saturation instead of of Fire) but the effect themes are the same. Every Skill card also rolls one random option: HP, MP or AG increase.
[Option] Ability Cards – Types 1–5
When crafting an Option card you choose the Type (1–5), but the color is random. Each Type has its own option pool:
| Type | Theme | Notable options |
|---|---|---|
| Type 1 | Strength / Fire | STR, Fire ATK/DEF, Critical DMG, Double DMG, Min ATK/WIZ/Curse, Nuke/Bolt/Wide ATK |
| Type 2 | Agility / Water | AGI, Water ATK/DEF, ATK success rate, Lv. 5 Wings ATK/WIZ/Curse, Skillpower slots, Nuke/Bolt/Wide crit chance |
| Type 3 | Stamina / Earth | STA, Earth ATK/DEF, Pentagram ATK, Excellent DMG, ATK per 20 levels, Max ATK/WIZ/Curse, Skillpower |
| Type 4 | Energy / Wind | ENE, Wind ATK/DEF, elemental DEF and success rates, Lv. 5 Wings DEF, Pentagram DEF, Shield DEF |
| Type 5 | Darkness / DoT | Darkness ATK/DEF, Poison/Toxic/Bleeding DMG, Mastery ATK/WIZ/Curse, shock defense |
[Elite] Ability Cards – Options by Color
Elite cards let you choose the color when crafting — and each color has its own premium pool:
| Color | Option pool |
|---|---|
| Full HP Recover chance, Skillpower 1-Slot, Critical DMG chance, Double DMG chance, Nuke/Bolt/Wide Excellent chance, Extra DEF | |
| AG recovery, Skillpower 2-Slot, Excellent DMG chance, Ignore Enemy Defense chance, Nuke/Bolt/Wide Double DMG chance, Extra DEF | |
| Full MP Recover chance, Skillpower 3-Slot, Additional DMG chance, Triple Damage chance, Nuke/Bolt/Wide Triple DMG chance, Extra DEF |
The Elite craft can also return 5 Ability Upgrade Stones instead of a card — it is the only craft with a random outcome, so check your server's probability info before spending crystals.
Crafting Costs (Chaos Goblin, Noria 180 103)
All card crafts happen at the Chaos Goblin and all succeed at 100% — the gamble is in the random rolls, not the craft itself. The currency is the
Ability Crystal, farmed from high-level hunting, bosses and events:
| Craft | Ability Crystals | Jewels of Bless | Zen | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| [Skill] card | 50 | 10 | 100,000,000 | Your class's Skill card |
| [Elite] card | 25 | 5 | 50,000,000 | Elite card of chosen color — or 5 Upgrade Stones |
| [Option] card | 5 | 1 | 10,000,000 | Option card of chosen Type, random color |
Level-Up and Salvaging
Right-click any obtained card to open the Ability Level-Up / Salvage window. Leveling a card to its maximum of level 5 consumes duplicate copies of the same card plus
Ability Upgrade Stones — the exact amounts are shown in the UI per level.
Duplicates you do not need can be salvaged into Upgrade Stones: 10 stones per Skill card, 5 per Elite card, 1 per Option card. A card cannot be salvaged the first time you obtain it — only true duplicates.
Crafting Strategy
Crystals are the bottleneck, so spend them in the right order. First craft your class's Skill card — it is a guaranteed result and transforms your main farming skill. Second, fill your Option slots with cheap Type crafts (5 crystals each): even mediocre rolls beat empty slots, and at 1 stone per salvage the duplicates are nearly free re-rolls. Save Elite crafting for last and focus on Green (Ignore Defense) for PvP or Purple (Triple Damage) for damage builds — at 25 crystals per attempt with a chance of getting stones instead, Elite hunting is where your crystal stockpile disappears.
