MU Online Excellent Options – The Complete Reference

Excellent options are the green lines that separate vendor trash from endgame gear. This reference lists every classic exc option by slot, what it actually does in the damage formula, and the hunting priority that veterans use when pricing items.

How Excellent Items Work

RuleDetails
Option count1 to 6 options per item ("full option" = all 6); count is rolled at drop
SourcesMonsters ~level 95+, bosses, Golden invasions (Box of Kundun), event boxes, Moss gambling
Level bonusExcellent items carry +25 hidden defense/damage scaling vs normal items of the same grade
StackingSame option from multiple pieces stacks (six armor pieces of Zen+40% = +240%)
UpgradesExc items upgrade with jewels like any item and keep their options; they are also the preferred base for Chaos Machine material sacrifices — never feed the machine your good exc gear by accident

Rings and pendants roll their own pools — HP/mana recovery and DD on rings, attack speed and excellent damage rate on pendants. Full lists with strategy live in the rings & pendants guide.

What to Hunt: the Priority List

For weapons, the market prices in this order: Exc DMG rate > DMG/20 > DMG 2% > speed > sustain rolls — a two-option weapon with rate+2% beats most three-option rolls without rate. For armor, DD is worth more than the other five combined in PvP; a five-piece DD+HP set is the endgame defensive chassis on classic servers. Zen and DSR pieces make perfect dedicated farm sets — cheap to buy because duelists ignore them. And remember the golden rule of pricing: options sell the item, the item itself is just the frame.

FAQ

Where do excellent items start dropping?
Roughly level 95+ monsters on classic settings; rates climb with monster level. Bosses and Golden invasions are the reliable sources.

Can excellent options be added to an item?
Not on classic servers — options exist from the drop. Some servers sell option-adding services or items (server-specific).

Exc or Ancient — which is better?
Depends on the build: exc DD sets win general PvP; specific ancient set bonuses (stat multipliers) win for the classes they favor. Endgame often mixes both.
