MU Online Guild System – Creation, Alliances & War

Nothing in MU's endgame is solo: Castle Siege, boss camps and the server's whole political layer run through guilds. Here is the system end to end — from paying the creation fee to ruling Loren Castle.

Creating a Guild

RequirementClassic value
Guild master level100+
FeeZen (server-configured; trivial on most private servers)
WhereGuild Master NPC (Devias / Valley of Loren)
SetupUnique name + 8×8 pixel crest displayed over every member

Ranks and Management

The Guild Master owns invites, kicks, alliance and war declarations; Assistants/Battle Masters (by version) carry delegated rights for day-to-day recruiting; everyone else is a member with the crest and guild chat. Member cap is 80 classic, tunable per server. A practical note from every long-lived guild: promote assistants in different time zones — recruiting windows, not skill, grow rosters.

Alliances & Hostility

RelationEffect
Alliance2–3 guilds under one banner: shared alliance chat, one siege side, no friendly-fire PvP flags
HostilityMutual declaration — open PvP between the guilds anywhere, no murderer penalty; the tool of server rivalries
NeutralDefault PK rules apply

Alliance politics are the real endgame content: sign-farming pacts before siege week, non-aggression deals over boss spawns, betrayals timed for registration deadlines. The gens split adds a second axis — smart alliances keep their guilds on one gens side.

Guild War & Battle Soccer

A guild war starts when both masters agree (/war command era): kills between the guilds score on a public counter until the target score ends it — honor duels at scale, no loot stakes. Battle Soccer is the beloved oddity: the war fought as a soccer match in the Devias stadium, goals instead of kills. Most modern servers keep both as prestige/fun systems alongside ranked content.

The Road to the Castle

A guild's growth arc on any server: recruit to a stable 20+ core → run event brackets together (Illusion Temple fives, Doppelganger squads) → form or join an alliance → farm Signs of Lord seriously for one week → take a siege slot. Even losing sieges pay: participation rewards, practice and the recruiting pitch of being on the board. The castle itself — taxes, Land of Trials, Lord Mix — is the crown, but the climb is what keeps guilds alive.

FAQ

Can a guild master transfer leadership?
Version-dependent — many classic servers require disband/recreate; modern versions support transfer. Check before your master takes a vacation.

Do guild members share exp or loot automatically?
No — parties handle sharing. The guild provides the people, not the mechanics.

What happens to the guild if the master quits?
It persists; an inactive master freezes invites/alliances — the classic guild-killer. Transfer or plan ahead.

Is there guild storage?
Not in classic MU — guild warehouses exist only as custom features on some private servers.
