What Crywolf Actually Is

Crywolf is a server-wide defence event. Balgass sends his army at the Crywolf Fortress and every player on the map fights to keep five altars standing. It is not instanced and it is not party-limited — the whole server shares one battle, and the outcome changes the map for everyone until the next cycle.

Win and the server gets a buff. Lose and the map switches to its occupied state with a penalty attached. That is why Crywolf is one of the few events where showing up matters even if you are not top of the damage chart.

Schedule on This Server

Straight from CryWolf.xml. Times are server time.

DayStart time
Tuesday21:25
Saturday21:25

The event does not begin at full intensity. It walks through six states, and the fight itself is only one of them:

#StateLasts
1First warning — Balgass’ invasion troops sighted10 min
2Second warning — all players called to prepare5 min
3Ready — Balgass is near the fortress2 min 30 s
4The battle itself15 min
5Result announced — winners and losers15 s
6Cycle ends, map returns to normal10 s

Full cycle is 32 min 55 s, of which 15 min is the actual battle. Balgass himself appears 6 min 40 s after the fight starts, and the monster AI switches aggression every 3 min.

The Five Altars

The fortress is defended by five altars, each with a Wolf Statue. Monsters push toward them; if the attackers destroy the altars the defence fails. The server places them as fixed objects on the map — the roster on this server lists Wolf Statue plus Wolf Altar 1–5, one of each.

Practical version: stand between the incoming wave and the nearest altar. Damage on the monsters is what protects the altars; there is nothing to repair or click.

What Attacks the Fortress

Eight monster types spawn during the event, in escalating waves. Numbers are the server’s base values.

Balram and Soram are the heavy hitters, and Balgass arrives last as the event boss. Every monster here carries elemental resistance — from 15 on Hammer Scout up to 29 on Soram — so a pure elemental build loses a chunk of its damage. Bring a second damage type.

Scoring and MvP Rewards

Crywolf ranks players by a kill score. Each monster is worth a fixed amount:

TargetScore per kill
Balgass (event boss)7,000
Contractor6,000
Dark Elf3,000
Tanker1,000
Soram700
Balram600
Death Spirit600

Score converts to a rank, and rank pays experience:

RankScore neededExperience reward
Rank S10,0011,800,000
Rank A5,0011,200,000
Rank B3,001800,000
Rank C1,001200,000
Rank D00

Rank S needs 10,001 score and pays 1,800,000 experience. That is roughly two Balgass kills, or a steady stream of Contractors and Tankers — which is why organised groups focus the high-value targets rather than farming Scouts.

Winning and Losing

If the fortress holds the server gets a benefit: +5% Chaos Machine success rate and monsters run at 90% of their normal health across the server.

If it falls, the penalty is disabled on this server. When active it cuts gem drop rate to 70% and experience to 100% until the next successful defence.

The map itself changes too — the server keeps separate terrain files for the peaceful, war and occupied states of Crywolf, so a lost defence visibly changes the fortress.

The Weekly Element

Crywolf runs an element rotation. Each week the event favours one element, cycling Fire → Water → Earth → Wind → Darkness and then a neutral week with no element, repeating all year. Matching your Pentagram and Errtel setup to the week’s element is the single cheapest damage increase available here.

See the Pentagram & Errtel guide for how elemental damage is calculated.

Getting the Most Out of It

  • Arrive during the warning states. The first two states are 10 and 5 minutes of notice — that is your window to warp in, buff and position, not to start travelling.
  • Hold the altar lanes, not the spawn. Score comes from kills either way, but a fallen altar costs the whole server the buff.
  • Save cooldowns for Balgass. He is worth 7,000 score — more than eleven Balrams — and he only appears once per cycle.
  • Bring non-elemental damage. Every monster on the map resists all four elements.
  • Party up. Nothing here is instanced, so there is no downside to sharing the map with a full party.

Crywolf FAQ

When does Crywolf start?

On this server it runs Tuesday at 21:25 and Saturday at 21:25. The full cycle is 32 min 55 s, with 15 min of actual fighting.

What level do I need for Crywolf?

The warp itself only requires level 10 and is free, but the monsters run from level 97 to 134 with up to 164,000 HP. Below roughly level 300 you are there to support, not to score.

What do you get for winning Crywolf?

A server-wide benefit: +5% Chaos Machine success rate and monster health reduced to 90% until the next cycle.

Who is the Crywolf boss?

Balgass. He appears 6 min 40 s after the battle state begins and is worth 7,000 score, far more than anything else on the map.

Is Crywolf party-based or solo?

Neither — it is a server-wide open event on one map. Everyone present fights the same invasion, and scoring is per player.

Do Crywolf monsters resist elements?

Yes, all of them. Resistance runs from 15 on Hammer Scout to 29 on Soram, applied equally to ice, poison, lightning and fire.
